About Me

Hi, I’m Ellie

At the earliest point of my career, I obtained my diplomas in Counselling and Community Services when I was volunteering at a local community centre; it was here that my passion for supporting people around life’s challenges became my life’s purpose.

I’ve since then worked with clients experiencing an array of challenges including Alcohol and Other Drug use, Domestic and Family Violence, Homelessness, Child Protection involvement and the impacts of Neurodivergence. During this time, I’ve honed my skills in working with trauma; including chronic, complex, developmental and generational trauma, burnout, attachment, supporting survivors of domestic and family violence, including assessing survivor strengths and mapping perpetrator patterns, and coaching.

I’m also a facilitator of Circle of Security-Parenting, Drumbeat and can host Women’s Circles.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting women who are Neurodivergent and in a caring role, however you don’t need to have a diagnosis to see me. As a mother and a receiver of a late diagnosis myself, I understand that it can be incredibly difficult and lonely navigating the world with a neurological difference, particularly as we take on more roles and give more of ourselves to others.  This becomes harder still when you’re the carer of a child who’s also neurodivergent.

I’m also keenly interested in root causes and a big believer that our bodies hold our experiences and pain so I’ll be bringing Root Cause Therapy and Embodied Processing to my practice in the near future so watch this space!

Sessions with me will typically look like this:

  • Building rapport - not with small chat but by us finding out if we’ll work well together, I want the best experience and outcome for you so it’s important that I don’t waste your time if we’re not vibing.

  • Getting an idea of where you’re at in life currently and where you want to be in the future - we’ll decide together what steps to take; and in what order. Sometimes just having a bit of clarity and something concrete to work off is all it takes.

  • Working through some stuff - we all have ‘stuff’ to work through however, not all of it needs to be done in therapy. We’ll identify what ‘stuff’ is causing the most havoc for you now and work from there. You’ll always be in control of what we talk about and the pace we go at; so even if I ask challenging questions, I’ll also respect when you’re not ready and/or certain topics are off-limits.

  • Brainstorming solutions and experimenting with different responses, actions and behaviours - change is the hardest thing to do; and it’s made harder if we’re blaming and shaming ourselves when we can’t make it happen. The aim here will be to conduct small doable experiments until we find what feels right for you.

  • Face-to-Face and Online sessions - I understand that face-to-face sessions can be confronting, difficult or just hard to commit to so I also offer online sessions over Microsoft Teams which you can access from anywhere with the link I send through and yes, you get the full hour.
